Our History
Conceived in 1962 Macleay Options Inc. has been supporting people with a disability and assisting their families and carers ever since. The organisation was started by a group of parents who shared the common goal and vision of creating opportunities for children with an intellectual disability at a time when special education facilities in Kempsey and surrounding areas were very limited.
Over the years, we began to offer additional vocational and accommodation services and since the Education Department took over our special education role in 1983, we have focused solely on providing adults with training and employment in supportive environments.
The announcements of the changes to how our organisation is funded with the implementation of the NDIS the Management have actively sort to diversify the organisations income streams to allow greater self sufficiently and development industrial arms that are able to be recognised and be competitive in the open market within their own right, whilst always remaining to its core.
Recent years have seen the organisation blossom and more than double in size.
Committee
Members elect a voluntary Management Committee to govern the organisation yearly at the Annual General Meeting. Currently there are seven Board Members in office. Day-to-day operations are administered by the Chief Executive Officer, Section Supervisors, and staff members.
We continually evaluate new models of services ranging across Respite, Business Services, Accommodation Services, Day Services, Outreach Services and Aged Services.
Macleay Options Inc. is an organisation with a proven past and secure future. We are continuing to expand and enhance our services to meet current and future needs of our clients and consumers to benefit the wider community.
